Southern Sphere Platinum is a South African mineral exploration and mine development company with mineral rights for platinum group metals (PGMs) and chrome in the Steelpoort region. What the Southeren Sphere Bursary Covers

Southern Sphere Platinum provides up to R200,000 per student to support study needs including:

  • Tuition fees
  • Accommodation (university residence or approved off‑campus housing)
  • Prescribed textbooks
  • Meal allowance

How to apply for the Bursary Programme?

There is NO formal application form for this bursary. You must:

Gather certified copies of the following documents:

  • South African ID
  • Matric certificate
  • Full academic record of first‑year studies
  • Proof of university acceptance or registration
  • Proof of residence in the Sekhukhune District
  • Write a cover note or motivational letter explaining why you should be awarded the bursary

Ensure your application is received no later than 17:00 on 6 April 2026. Shortlisted candidates may be contacted for further assessment such as psychometric tests or interviews. If you don't hear back from the company after 21 days, you should regard your application as unsuccessful.

Requirements & Eligibility

To qualify for the Southern Sphere Platinum Bursary 2026, applicants must:

  • Be a South African citizen
  • Reside in local communities within the Sekhukhune District (Limpopo)
  • Be registered as a second‑year student for 2026
  • Study one of the eligible fields listed below
  • Have achieved a minimum average of 60% across all first‑year subjects
  • Be studying at one of the approved universities:
  • University of Limpopo
  • North‑West University
  • University of the Witwatersrand
  • University of Johannesburg
  • University of Pretoria

Not be receiving another bursary (exclusive). Preference may be given to students demonstrating financial need.
