About the Opportunity

Eskom is inviting applications for 18 Plant Operator (Operating) positions at Matla Power Station. This permanent opportunity is ideal for individuals with a passion for power generation and plant operations who are eager to contribute to the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of one of South Africa's major power stations.

The successful candidates will be responsible for operating designated plant equipment according to approved operating procedures, ensuring operational efficiency, supporting production targets, and maintaining high safety standards.

Main Purpose of the Position

The purpose of this role is to safely operate an allocated plant in accordance with established operating instructions, company procedures, and safety regulations. Successful applicants will also assist in mentoring learner operators while ensuring the plant operates efficiently and reliably.

Key Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be expected to:

* Operate allocated plant equipment in accordance with Eskom operating procedures.

* Monitor plant performance and report abnormalities immediately.

* Ensure compliance with all operational, environmental, and safety requirements.

* Support continuous plant availability and operational efficiency.

* Assist in supervising and guiding learner plant operators.

* Complete operational records and documentation accurately.

* Communicate effectively with supervisors and fellow team members.

* Perform any other legitimate operational duties assigned by management.

 Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications:

Qualifications

NQF Level 1 / ABET Level 4 (Internal Applicants)

OR

* Grade 12 (Matric) or N3 with Mathematics and Science

PLUS

* NQF Level 3 National Certificate in Power Plant Auxiliary Systems Operations

Experience

Minimum of 1 year learner plant operator experience** in a power generation or related plant operating environment.
