About the Sasol Mainstream Bursary 2027
The Sasol Mainstream Bursary Programme supports full-time university studies in Engineering and Science. Financial support along with development support throughout the study period are included.
Funding covers undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications across the STEM field.
Successful students may enter Sasol Graduate Development Programmes after graduation. Also, a workback or payback of the bursary is compulsory.

To qualify as a postgraduate applicant, you should be planning to enroll in one of these disciplines:
- Chemical Engineering
- Chemistry
- Data Science (Applied Mathematics, Statistics)
- Cybersecurity
You don't have to produce a formal project when applying, however, you should have an idea of the topics you'd like to work on. Additionally, it's recommended that you know how to discuss the topics, and their relations with South Africa's sustainability.

Sasol Online Application: How to Apply
Applications for the Sasol Bursary to to made online. Emailed applications will not be considered. Early application is advised by Sasol as late applications won't be accepted. Make sure to apply before 17 May 2026.

All candidates who applied will be contacted in September 2026 regarding the outcome of their application.

Requirements & Eligibility

Sasol Bursary Application: Requirements & Eligibility
Interested students must be South African by birth and intending to study in 2027 at a standard university in South Africa. Also, applicants must be under 30 at the time of their application.
Sasol bursaries do not fund distance learning, double or hybrid learning. Only one application will be accepted and awarded for. You must have obtained at least Level 6 in Mathematics & Physical Science, Level 4 in English if you're still in grade 12. Maths Literacy and Techical Maths won't be considered.
The following documents are require when applying for the sasol bursary:
- Certifed Copy of South African ID
- Certied copy of Academic records of previous study yeear (e.g use final grade 11 results if currenty in matric when applying ).
