About the Loughborough Development Trust Scholarship
The Loughborough Development Trust Africa Scholarship is a prestigious postgraduate funding opportunity offered by Loughborough University in the United Kingdom. It supports high-achieving students from Africa who wish to pursue a master’s degree at the university.

How to Apply for the Development Trust Scholarship
Applicants must apply online through Loughborough University’s postgraduate funding system.
- Apply for a master’s programme at Loughborough University
- Receive a conditional or unconditional offer
- Complete the Global Impact Scholarship application form
- Submit all required supporting documents before the deadline
Selected applicants are automatically considered for the Africa Scholarship through the same application process. Meaning, you will be considered for other scholarships at the University with one application form. There's no need to apply for each international scholarship.
Application Deadline for Development Trust Scholarship 2026
The closing date for the scholarship is 6 May 2026, while applications to the Loughborough University should be in by 15 April 2026.
Successful students will be informed on 1 June 2026.
Requirements & Eligibility
Requirements for the International Scholarship
Applicants must fulfil the following obligations when applying:
- Be a citizen and permanently domiciled in an African country
- Hold an offer (conditional or unconditional) for a taught master’s programme at Loughborough UniversityDemonstrate strong academic performance (usually first-class or equivalent)
- Show leadership potential and commitment to development in their home country
- Provide evidence of funding for living and travel costs (not covered by the scholarship)
