SITA Bursary Overview
The SITA Bursary 2026 supports ICT students across South Africa. It aims to build a technical pipeline to address current skills gaps in Information and Communications Technology.
Twenty bursaries are available for deserving second-year students. Funding covers tuition, study materials, accommodation, meals, allowances, and work-integrated learning where applicable.
About SITA
SITA is responsible for delivering IT services to government institutions. It helps improve efficiency through digital solutions. The agency focuses on innovation and secure systems. Additionally, SITA supports skills development through bursaries and training.

Eligible students can apply for the following programmes:
- BSc Computer Science
- BSc Computer Science & Informatics (AI)
- BSc Information Technology
- BSc Data Science
- BSc Cybersecurity
- Diploma in ICT (Application Development)
- Diploma in ICT (Communication Networks)
How to Apply for the SITA Bursary Programme?
SITA has an online portal you can access to start your application. Once you've done that, all documents needed should be sent to the given email address.
- Complete the application online via the SITA External Bursary 2026 Form
or scan the QR code provided. - Email all supporting documents to externalbursaries2026@sita.co.za before 1 April 2026.
Requirements & Eligibility
Eligibility and Requirements for SITA Bursary
The below-mentioned eligibility markers should be met so that you can apply for funding proivdied by SITA for the 2026 academic year.
To apply, students must:
- Be South African citizens
- Be registered for Year 2 at a recognised public tertiary institution
- Have an average pass rate of 65%
- Not already have funding covering their studies
- Preference is given to students living with disabilities, and to White, Coloured, and Indian students
SITA Bursary Requirements
For your application to make it through the first round, all documenation needs to be presented upon applying. Namely certified copies of:
- ID document
- Matric statement of results
- Proof of registration
- Acceptance letter from their institution
- Curriculum Vitae
- Academic record or transcript (1st-year results)
