SACAA Pilot Training Bursary 2026
The South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) offers a multi-stream bursary programme for students pursuing careers in aviation. Applicants can choose between pilot training or engineering-related fields depending on their career goals.
For pilot training, selected candidates may complete part of their training internationally through a partnership with Civil Aviation Flight University of China. This allows students to gain global exposure while training at one of the world’s largest dedicated aviation institutions.
About SACAA
SACAA is South Africa’s national aviation authority responsible for regulating safety, licensing, and compliance in civil aviation. It operates under the Department of Transport and plays a key role in developing aviation skills locally.
Through its bursary programme, SACAA aims to address skills shortages and build a pipeline of qualified aviation professionals. Civil Aviation Flight University of China, the international training partner, is a major aviation university that has trained a large portion of China’s pilots and aviation personnel.

How to Apply: SACAA Bursary 2026
Applications must be submitted online via the SACAA bursary portal under current opportunities. You have to select the relevant stream and complete the application as instructed,
Supporting documents include ID, academic results, proof of income, and a motivation letter. Late appliccations will not be considered.
Programmes will start in September 2026, so you must be available to travel by then.

SACAA Bursary Requirements
Minimum requirements apply across all streams, with slight variations depending on the field.
- South African citizen aged 18–35
- Currently in Matric or completed Grade 12 with 60% average
- Strong results in Mathematics and Physical Science (Level 6s)
- Demonstrated financial need
- Interest in aviation or engineering careers
Additional assessments or medical requirements may apply for pilot training candidates.
