About the Role
Weir Minerals is looking for a qualified and experienced **Millwright** to join its maintenance team at the Isando facility. This position is responsible for carrying out both **electrical (light and heavy current)** and **mechanical maintenance** on a wide range of plant machinery and equipment. The successful candidate will support operations across the **Foundry, Machine Shop, and Rubber Plant**, ensuring that production equipment remains reliable, safe, and efficient.

Key Responsibilities
Health and Safety
* Demonstrate a strong commitment to workplace safety and the company's Zero Harm culture.
* Ensure all maintenance work complies with safety regulations and company procedures.
* Follow applicable electrical and mechanical standards, including SANS 10142 requirements.
* Promote safe working practices throughout the maintenance department.
Maintenance and Production Support
* Perform electrical and mechanical repairs on all plant equipment.
* Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns and restore production operations.
* Conduct preventative and scheduled maintenance according to maintenance plans.
* Complete daily inspections of assigned machinery.
* Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical and electrical faults.
* Support fellow maintenance artisans with troubleshooting activities.
* Participate in standby duties, overtime, and shift work when operational requirements demand.
Automation and PLC Systems
* Perform basic PLC programming and troubleshooting.
* Assist with factory automation projects.
* Improve machine performance and production efficiency through automation solutions.
* Maintain industrial control systems and related equipment.
Maintenance Planning
* Record completed maintenance activities using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
* Complete job cards accurately and on time.
* Develop maintenance schedules for new and existing plant equipment.
* Ensure machinery modifications meet engineering standards.
Engineering Drawings
* Read and interpret engineering and machine drawings.
* Produce sketches and maintenance-related drawings where necessary.
* Apply technical drawings during repairs and equipment modifications.
Teamwork
* Work closely with maintenance artisans, supervisors, planners, and production teams.
* Mentor and support apprentices.
* Share technical knowledge and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
* Maintain positive working relationships across departments.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
* Qualified **Millwright Trade Test** with at least **5 years of relevant experience**.
* N3 Electrical and/or Mechanical qualification.
* PLC Basics Training.
* Forklift Certificate.
* Working at Heights Certificate.
* Confined Spaces Certificate.
* Medium Voltage Switching Certificate.
* Boiler Operator Certificate.
* Experience working with Foundry machinery.
* Knowledge of Variable Speed Drives (VSDs).
* Experience with level, pressure, flow, and temperature sensors.
* Strong understanding of machine safety systems.
* Experience working with:
* CNC machines
* Conventional machine tools
* Overhead cranes
* Forklifts
* Pneumatic systems
* Hydraulic systems
* Steam installations
* Computer literacy, including SAP and Microsoft Office.
Advantageous Qualification
* N6 Certificate or Engineering Diploma.
