The University of the Western Cape (UWC) invites eligible students to apply for the Erika Theron Trust Postgraduate Scholarship 2026.
This prestigious scholarship aims to support female postgraduate students in Social Work, continuing the legacy of Professor Erika Theron, a former UWC Chancellor who championed women’s education.
About the Erika Theron Trust Scholarship
The Erika Theron Trust was established to empower women in the Social Work field, helping them pursue advanced academic qualifications and contribute meaningfully to South African society.
Scholarships will be awarded for:
- Master’s degree studies
- Doctoral (PhD) studies
- Field: Social Work only
All studies must be completed at UWC.
The UWC Scholarship Value
The value of the scholarship is not fixed. Awards are determined based on:
- Available funding
- Number of successful applicants
- Funding is intended to support postgraduate study costs
How to Apply for the Erika Theron Postgraduate Scholarships 2026?
If you're a female graduate with a degree in socila work, ypu can apply for the postgraduate scholarship by submitting an application via email. The application form and suppporting documents can be sent to: finaidbursaries@uwc.ac.za.
Requirements & Eligibility
Applicants must meet ALL of the following criteria:
- Must be a female South African citizen
- Must have completed a Social Work degree at UWC
- Must be studying (or intend to study) Master’s or PhD in Social Work
- Must have a strong academic record
- Must study at UWC for the duration of the funding
Required Documents for the Postgraduate Scholarship
Applicants may be required to submit:
- Completed application form
- Certified copy of ID
- Academic transcripts
- Proof of qualification in Social Work
- Motivation letter
Incomplete or late applications will not be considered. So, make sure you apply correctly and on time.
